This is the real home of rum as we understand it today. Real rum! Huzzah! This rum is the daddy, it’s often medium bodied and medium dark in colour, not that it matters much as they can just add colouring anyway.

The beauty of Bajan rum is that it’s unadultered and considered by the producers as pure rum. By Bajan law no additives (other than E150a) are allowed. That’s no sugar coating, no vanilla essences, no prune extract (don’t ask), nada. Distilled rum, oak cask, time, job done.

Examples of Bajan rum would be Mount Gay, or anything from Foursquare (they produce quite a range of rums and are superb).
